The importance of Science in today’s world cannot be overemphasized. A sound foundation of these concepts is a prerequisite not only for a career in Science, Engineering and Technology but also to understand the world around oneself in an appropriate fashion. In our education system such a foundation is expected to be laid at school level. Unfortunately, today marks decide the merits of a student and due to this fact the entire education system is oriented towards marks rather than understanding the concepts. Teachers, parents and students in their quest for the marks in the examination tend to forget that an examination is expected to judge a student for the understanding of the concepts. In Science, merely knowing the answers of all the expected examination questions by heart may fetch good marks for a student but it is impossible for the same student to apply those concepts in solving day to day problems. This happens due to lack of conceptual clarity on the part of the student. In today’s world of information explosion, there are many tools available to achieve this goal. But a student requires appropriate guidance to make use of these tools so that this goal is achieved systematically in the course of his regular curriculum. Contrary to common belief the conceptual clarity and the success in the examinations are not mutually exclusive. CU believes that teaching at different levels for last twenty years has proved that conceptual enrichment of a student gets automatically reflected in his excellence in academics as well.
With this view Dr. Mansi Rajdhyaksha founded Concepts Unlimited (CU) to establish conceptual clarity in the subject of Science for the school children right from standard 5th. CU is working towards achieving its objectives by adopting conceptual teaching. We try to develop thinking skills of our students by exposing them to the science in their day to day life. Keeping in step with the technological advances in education, we have introduced the OLT (On Line Teaching) model of imparting knowledge to our students even in the remote areas. CU intends to achieve this by conducting different tailor made programs for schools, teachers, parents as well as students.
